NIJL proudly participates in Grand Opening of Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico facility

In a Grand Opening ceremony Lufthansa Technik and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico have celebrated the achievement of the operational status of Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico (LTPR). On the occasion of the arrival of the first A320 from JetBlue Airways, the second launching customer of LTPR, a further overhaul line of the facility was opened on-time. Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico had already started operations on July 21, 2015 with its first overhaul line for launching customer Spirit.
The festive ceremony was spectacularly accompanied by the Lufthansa Orchestra. In the hangar alongst both sides of the Orchestra stage two overhaul lines were visible; Spirit Airlines Airbus A319 at the left and a JetBlue A320 at the right side. As appointed partner for delivering the complete docking systems, NIJL Aircraft Docking was invited to attend the ceremony. Of course NIJL’s representatives were very proud to see that during the ceremony the delivered Nose, Wing, Tail dock and PAX stands were fitted around both aircrafts.
Besides that it was great to learn that the Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico facilities are very well equipped to ensure state-of-the-art aircraft overhauls, but to also meet future needs of the market. It also means a lot for the Puerto Rico community; Up to 400 highly qualified people will work for the company in a site that covers a total area of 215,000 square feet. This investment is creating new jobs with valuable training and opportunities for growth.
